Cástania heather honey is the only "guest" honey in our offer because it is produced on Velebit, where we move our bees at the end of summer and throughout early autumn.
It is obtained from the heather plant, which is an evergreen shrub with a prostrate stem from which upright branches, 25-80 centimeters high, are separated. The heather has bell-shaped flowers with a pink colored calyx. It is widespread in Western Europe (from northern Norway to Iceland), the northern part of Asia Minor, and even in western Siberia. It was brought from Europe to North America and grows in its Atlantic part. In our country, it grows in the coastal regions (from the northern to the southern coast), especially in the lower mountainous part facing south. It is often found in Lika (especially on Velebit).
They bloom from July to the end of October, depending on the climate of the climate where it grows. It is most abundant in spring and autumn, when there is the most precipitation.
Application : very pleasant specific taste, which makes it especially loved by children . It helps with rheumatic diseases and gout, as well as with diseases of the urinary system and kidneys, as it stimulates urination. It has an anti-inflammatory effect , so it is recommended for the occurrence of kidney stones , cystitis and prostate diseases, as well as for diseases of the female organs. It is an excellent addition to chamomile, rosehip and birch teas. It also helps with respiratory problems and coughs.
In combination with heather tea, it facilitates expectoration, and has proven to be particularly effective for expectoration of mucus in smokers.
